“I love spinning vinyl, and I still do so most of the time”, Timo Maas has been quoted saying. No wonder this passionate electronic music DJ, producer, and remixer, born in Hanover, Germany is famously popular. Maas’s fascination for the turntables led him to purchase one when he was hardly 17. He used to do gigs around Germany initially. His first official techno set came about when he was introduced to the Germany rave scene during Easter in 1992. He became a regular in rave events and earned the reputation as a talented DJ.

Maas began producing records in the 80s, but it was only in 1995 that he released his first one ‘The Final XS’. His second release was in collaboration with Gary D and the track was called ‘Herdplatte’, which was a big success. Maas then gained a residency at Hamburg’s legendary ‘The Tunnel’, where he was behind the turntables from 1994 to 1996.

Maas also releases records through record label ‘Hope Recordings’ under his alias ‘Orinoko’. Maas also works together with his friend Leon Alexander under the name ‘Mad Dogs’. Come 2000 and this versatile artist gained residency in the famous New York superclub ‘Twilo’.

Maas’s first brush with international popularity came with his remix of ‘Doom’s Night’ of Azzido Da Bass. Then came a string of hits including ‘Music for the Maases Volume 1’, ‘Connected’ with Paul Oakenfold and his debut album ‘Loud’ in 2002. The volume 2 of ‘Music for the Maases’ was followed by his immensely successful album ‘Pictures’, which featured guest artists like Neneh Cherry and Brian Molko, among others. A true DJ for the masses is Timo Maas.
