Chris Liebing
A pioneer in techno production,
Chris Liebing
is credited with a typical pumping sound he calls
‘Schranz’. Chris Liebing
started off his DJing career in a small club called
‘Red Brick’ in Giessen, Germany way back
in 1991. He was fascinated by unique sounds from an
early age and used to play anything from hip hop to
soul to house, during this early phase of his life.
He opened his own Techno Club called
‘Spin club’ in 1994. Later on in 1995,
Chris began to work for Eye-Q records
in Frankfurt, where he met his friend and partner
Andre Walter. They both decided to set up a studio
and work on music. They both along with Tommy Bingel
and Toni Rios founded the house label SOAP, which
has given many a smash hit like ‘Traveler’
and ‘Strictly Ryth’. 1995 saw Chris
become a resident DJ at Omen in Frankfurt. His releases
like ‘Audio 07’ and ‘Audio 11’
got him international recognition during this point
of time.
Chris was a regular on radio between
1978 and 1999 through his weekly radio show on Evosonic
Radio. 1999 also saw him create his own record company
‘CLR’. 2000 saw him work with Puali Steinbach
on their show ‘Pitch Control’ on HR XXL.
This weekly show aired on Thursday nights saw his
popularity charts zoom. The year 2002 saw him release
his album for CLR.
A natural with crowds, Chris
is constantly traveling and entertaining fans. His
energy and sets are enough to send his fans pulse
racing. No wonder Chris won the German dance award
in the category best national DJ in 2003.
