Grant, Tony McGuiness, and Paavo Siljamaki,
Above & Beyond
has literally stolen a march well above and beyond
the reach of others. This fab trio has been making
music collectively and individually with massive hits
like Oceanlab, Nitromethane, POS, Aalto, Dirt Devils,
and Tranquility Base, catapulting them into the heights
of superstardom.ey.
These boys have also remixed for
the ultimate music diva, Madonna’s ‘What
it feels like for a girl’ and for artists such
as Delerium, the Japanese superstar Avumi Hamasaki
and Three Drives. In fact, Madonna was so impressed
with Above & Beyond’s version that she went
ahead and shot a video to the Above & Beyond mix
instead of the album!
Their debut with the Above &
Beyond single ‘Far from in love’ marked
the beginning of a wonderful musical journey for this
sensational musical trio. Then came Oceanlab classics
‘Clear Blue water’ and ‘Sky Falls
Down’, Nitromethane ‘Time to die’
and on Paul Van Dyk’s ‘Vandit’ label,
Aalto, ‘Rush’, rocking dance floors everywhere.
Above & Beyond’s label
Anjunabeats is the leading favorite among top players
like Judge Jules, Matt Hardwick , Ferry Corsten, and
Paul van Dyk. The trio has been trailblazers with
spectacular cuts like POS Remember/Amnesiac, Oceanlab
Beautiful Together and the much in news Epic, with
Rusch & Murray. Epic consisted of a track made
entirely on forums on the World Wide Web.
Jono, Paavo, and Tony have teamed
up with some talents to dish out some great sounds
for Anjunabeats. These hot tracks include Matt Hardwick
vs. Smith & Pledger’s ‘Day One’
and the Above & Beyond single ‘No one on
earth’, featuring stunning vocals from none
other than Faithless songstress Zoe Johnston.
The label has been a hit wherever
they have set foot internationally. From Canada to
Australia to UK to other countries across Europe,
the trio’s musical energy has set up a great
bonding with drooling fans, wanting more. They have
gone live with Justine Suissa on vocals and Aalto
Live with Paavo, Siljamaki, and Mika Eloranta. The
trio has regular commitments for ‘Passion’
apart from spinning vinyl at the likes of Room At
The Top and Ministry of Sound in UK apart from having
graced decks in USA, Finland, Russia, Australia, Japan
and Singapore. Their uplifting electronic music made
the September 2003 issue of Mixmag pick Above &
Beyond as one of the front runners when it comes to
trance in the world in recent times
