James Holden

Considered one of the pillars of the dance music community, it is sometimes hard to believe that James Holden is only into his early twenties. He has been setting the benchmarks for others to follow both as a producer and as an artist, compiling some stunning remixes. His futuristic tracks have decorated the sets of DJs as renowned as Paul Oakenfold, Digweed and Tiesto. He has also co-produced ‘Bloodlock’ with Sasha for the ‘Airdrawndagger’ album.

His great talent meant that he has secured residencies at UK super club ‘Passion’ and ‘Kremlin’ in Holland. He had an early initiation into music while learning both piano and violin from his father. His career took off when he was studying for a math degree at Oxford University, where he came up with ‘Horizons’. This track literally widened his horizons and he was to become the most happening thing in dance music. The track in fact featured in Mixmag’s top 100 dance records of all time. His later projects like ‘Mainline’, ‘Duncan Ellis’ for Bedrock , ‘Ariane’ for Hope Recordings and ‘One for You’, marked the arrival of a producer with his own unique sound. From dub to ambient music and lo-fi, he experimented with all sorts of sounds, making them to rock dance floors.

He joined hands with singer-songwriter Julie Thompson to come up with ‘Nothing’, which was released by the renowned house label Loaded. The track has become an international club hit. His remixing talents came to fore with the classic ‘Fine Day’ which features the vocals of Kristy Hawkshaw of Opus III.

His DJing skills are much in demand as he continues to tour all over the world, enthralling fans everywhere with his brand of music. A true new-breed DJ and producer, there is no stopping James Holden.
