Japanese DJ Satoshi Tomiie’s career began early when he was encouraged to play piano by his parents. During school, he developed a passion for jazz. By the time he was in school, he was a regular with many bands. Satoshi was also intrigued by hip hop and be began exploring possibilities in DJing and production.

He had a few tapes of early Chicago house mixes which were inspirational to his musical journey. His potential was spotted by the legendary DJ Frankie Knuckles and they both collaborated for ‘Tears’, a track now regarded as an all time classic in vocal house. He then moved on to New York and became an acclaimed part of the Def Mix crew.

His remixing skills meant that he was to work with leading names like Mariah Carey, Simply Red, David Bowie, U2, and Japanese artist Misia, to name only a few. His debut album for Sony called ‘Full Lick’ released in 2000 and featured Kelli Ali of Sneaker Pimps and Robert Owens, among others. The album was a great success and topped charts all over the world. The single ‘Up in Flames,’ which included mixes by John Digweed, became a dance floor anthem quickly.

Satoshi is extremely popular in the US dance music scene as well as in the alternative music scene. The year 2001 saw him found his own label ‘Saw Recordings’. His first single released on the label entitled ‘Paranoize’, was hit so were the follow ups like ‘Virus’ and ‘Penetration’. A regular at events around the world, DJ Satoshi Tomiie‘s has a great future ahead of him.
