John Digweed - England Trance DJ

Global DeeJay John Digweed

John Digweed

John Digweed is well and truly a DJ’s DJ. A trendsetter, he was born on January 1, 1967 in Hastings, England. He has been belting them out big since 15 and there is still no stopping. His first breakthrough came at a club named ‘Renaissance’ in London. This was after he was heard by fellow DJ Alexander Coe a.k.a Sasha. John along with Sasha known as Sasha and Digweed are famed for their progressive trance/house sound that topped charts in Europe and North America in the 90’s and early 2000.

John Digweed along with Nick Muir under the alias Bedrock has redefined dance floor excellence. It was during this period that John Digweed emerged as a young talent to reckon with, mesmerizing drooling audiences with his progressive tunes. Anyone who has heard his smash hits like ‘Expeditions’ released in the spring of 1999, will vouch for his divine talent.

Wherever he appears, from Australia to Africa and Asia, his performances are met with the same kind of fervor and his popularity chart continues to reach for the skies. A versatile personality, avid John Digweed fans would remember his appearance in the 2000 film ‘Groove’. His immensely popular ‘Kiss 100’ show on weekly radio, now called ‘Transitions’ is syndicated and played across eleven different countries. John Digweed’s phenomenal popularity saw him reach the very top of his profession being voted #1 by DJ Mag in 2001.

Along with Europe, Digweed rocked North America in association with Sasha at the New York Club, ‘Twilo’. The year 2002 saw him go on an extensive tour of the US along with Sasha and Jimmy Van M. The tour called ‘Delta Heavy’ firmly established him and progressive house music in the mainstream American music. 2002 also saw him score for the film ‘Stark Raving Mad’. Japan is another place blessed to hear his unique signature tunes. He has played in famous clubs in Tokyo like ‘Space Lab Yellow’ and ‘Ageha’ apart from playing along with Sasha at a womb-organized event at LaForet Museum in Roppongi.

John Digweed is scheduled to create his soul-stirring magic for the movie adaptation of Irvine Welsh’s best selling novel ‘Ecstasy: Three Tales of Chemical Romance’, in 2006. In spite of his hectic schedule, he can still be found in his two monthly Bedrock residencies in ‘Heaven’ in London and ‘The Beach’ in Brighton. A much respected and much imitated DJ, John Digweed continues to send us to raptures in his own inimitable style.
