Victor Calderone - New York Trance DJ

Victor Calderone
Victor Calderone, a Brooklyn native, was introduced to New York nightlife by his older brother Cesar at the age of 15. Victor took to music like a duck to water. He has redefined the role of the American DJ, enthralling legions of fans with multiple genres of music. He first tasted success when Sire Record’s Seymour Stein signed ‘Program Two’, to a deal in 1991.
After a brief hiatus, Victor encouraged by his wife Athena returned to the studio to create his first solo record ‘Give it up’ in 1996. This was followed by ‘Beat Me Harder’. Both created history topping Billboard dance charts. Victor landed gigs spinning at parties at places like the legendary NYC nightclubs Limelight and Life. Better things were in store for him though. He struck up a great professional and personal rapport with Grammy award winning Madonna starting 1998 onwards. He started off by remixing the diva’s ‘Frozen’ from her acclaimed ‘Ray of Light’ album. Since then he has remixed nine other records for Madonna.
Famed British Rock Superstar Sting soon followed and asked Victor to remix ‘Desert Roses’, the second single from his 1999 ‘Brand New Day’ album. The songs spent an incredible 80 weeks on the Billboard dance charts, including nine consecutive weeks as No.1. Victor also teamed with vocalist Deborah Cooper in to record the Billboard mega-hit ‘Are You Satisfied’, which he both co-wrote and produced.
Well satisfied he was not. His passion for music lead him on to a multi-record deal with Tommy Boy Music, which saw Victor release his first beatmix CD , ‘E-VC2’, in 1999.
His live performances showcase his amazing energy and his versatility at the turntables. Victor staged his spectacular ‘Caligula: A Roman Orgy’ during Gay Pride Weekend in New York City held at Hammerstein Ballroom and featured performances by Deborah Cooper and Cyndi Lauper, among others, before a massive congregation of 5000 fans. His fame has taken him all over the world. Apart from performing in several countries like France, England, Israel and Greece to mention only a few, he has also arranged music for several Dolce & Gabbana runway fashion shows in Milan, Italy. At home you can find him spinning monthly at ‘Crobar’ in Miami’s South Beach, when not traveling for special events.
Victor’s remarkable connection with his audiences continues. He has been quoted saying “If it wasn’t for the audience and the fans, I wouldn’t exist, so I wouldn’t have any right coming off to anybody like I’m anything special. I’m very grateful for all the support and everything that’s been going on in my life. It’s been amazing and I’m very happy.” That just about sums up the remarkable man.
